After seeing Nine, the musical that opened August 4, 2016 at the Underground, I am thoroughly convinced every woman on the planet should have a tambourine.

Diving deeper into Rough Magic and Shakespeare’s First Folio
[The following is an excerpt from an article published in the About Town: Twin Ports Arts and Entertainment section of the Zenith News and was written by Phil Fitzpatrick. Read the full article here.]
Imagine a world in which you never laughed at the bawdy drinking scene from Twelfth Night. No chill up your spine when the trio of witches chants, “Double, double toil and trouble,” as they prophesy the ambitious king’s demise in Macbeth. Julius Casear might have uttered his iconic, “Friends, Romans, countrymen: lend me your ears!” but we wouldn’t know about it today.
First Folio will arrive in October and go on display for nearly a month in the Kathryn A. Martin Library at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). Meanwhile, you can get your fix when the world premier Rough Magic: a theatrical celebration of Shakespeare’s First Folio is performed at The Underground April 7-9 at 7:30pm.
Where Live Radio Theater Meets Podcasting in Duluth
[The following excerpt is from an article originally appearing in the March-April 2016 issue of Duluth Superior Living magazine written by Tony Bennett.]
Ask Blake Thomas, the mastermind behind Take It With You, to sum up just what that enterprise exactly is, and he’ll tell you it’s not the easiest thing to do. “We have been trying to come up with an elevator pitch for two years, now, and we’ve come no closer to figuring out how to explain it,” Thomas says. “For the old timers, you can say it’s live radio theater, and they get it. But when they ask you what station it’s on and podcasting comes up, they’re out. It works the opposite way with younger folks. For a while, we said that it’s like A Prairie Home Companion meets Cheers. That worked okay.”
Who’s Going to be Italian?
It’s been an exciting time at the theatre, and we’re happy to announce the cast list for our upcoming Underground production of Nine.
