Welcome to The Duluth Playhouse’s official blog! We appreciate you taking the time to check out what we have to say about theatre in the Duluth community. If you’re curious about what you’re going to find here, we’ll clue you in: we’ll be regularly blogging about what The Duluth Playhouse has to offer the world of community theatre. The Playhouse is a four-faceted non-profit organization consisting of:
- The Duluth Playhouse itself which produces six shows each season on our main stage, produced and cast by local and regional talent. The Duluth Playhouse has been a staple of the Duluth area since its inception in 1914.
- The Playhouse Children’s Theatre, which offers the best in family entertainment; cast with local youth ages 8-18, our Children’s Theatre produces high quality productions for all ages to enjoy.
- The Underground, our satellite theatre also located in the Depot (in the former Children’s Museum space), is a performing arts venue that offers engaging, thought-provoking programming in all disciplines—theatre, dance, music, poetry, art, film, and the spoken word. The mission of The Underground is to serve as a community meeting place for culture and conversation, for arts and education, offering diverse programming to foster the artistic and intellectual life of Northern Minnesota/Wisconsin.
- And our Education Program, which features fall and spring classes along with summer camps and intensives, providing year-round opportunities in acting, dancing and singing for youth, teens, and adults.
As you might imagine—we have a lot to write about! You can expect to find blogs about our upcoming shows, behind-the-scenes exclusives, events, upcoming classes and anything related to us here at the Playhouse and what we have to offer the community.
